Broadford & District Pony Club was founded in November 1994, when it held it's initial rally at Michelle Chamberlain's property in Wallan East. The rallies moved to "McKinnon" in Broadford mid 1995. The club was accepted into the PCV officially on 18/6/95. Since October 1995, the club's home grounds has been at the Broadford Common.
There was another riding club, Broadford Rider's Club, already in operation at the Common, so both Clubs shared the costs and labor to establish basic equestrian facilities such as the menage, holding yards and some cross-country jumps. Broadford & District Pony Club then built their own small equipment shed (which remains as such) from which they operated. They opened the gates, and a BBQ was wheeled out, and members gathered around to enjoy their lunch and meeting. Over the years, through lots of fund raising and hard work from many individuals, some fantastic facilities have been established for its members to enjoy.
BDPC holds 11 rallies and organizes a range of equestrian events for its members each year. This includes an annual gymkhana, an In-House Dressage & Combined Training day and camps. We also encourage our riders to attend zone events such as The Lowden Family Shield and Fimister Shield. Our rallies provide quality instruction on a range of equestrian activities such as: dressage, showjumping, cross country and games. Our Club also keenly promotes horse care and caters for rider's aiming to achieve their efficiency certificates.
In 2013 Broadford Pony Club prides itself on being a small, supportive and friendly club that encourages riders to have a fulfilling time at Pony Club.
